Nature and Landscape Photography // Mid-Atlantic Storm Chasing
Northern Lights Over Virginia's Shenandoah Valley
Latest Featured Work
The aurora reached far south on the evening of March 23rd, leading to one of the best shows of northern lights over Virginia in the past decade. I captured a series of photos from Shenandoah National Park which garnered international attention for the rarity of the event. Click to see more photos.

Storms and Extreme Weather
As a trained meteorologist, I chase all types of extreme weather. From tornadoes and supercell thunderstorms to blizzards and ice storms, I enjoy every season and find that each has dramatic beauty to capture in the atmosphere. The Mid-Atlantic is my focus region, where an alley of weather influenced by the Blue Ridge Mountains provides a constant source of interesting events. I also chase the Great Plains of the central USA where the most intense storms on the planet often occur.
Astrophotography and Space
The night sky is full of astounding color and contrast for those patient enough to seek and capture it. I capture galaxies, nebulae, meteor showers, and other astronomical events.
Landscape and Nature
With a focus on the Appalachians and Blue Ridge Mountains, nature and landscapes are a constant source of inspiration. Every season of the year offers unique and spectacular views of the mountains. I seek to capture the grand drama and small details of this remarkable corner of our planet.
